5 minutes with Brittany darling.

by team nuut

We hit up Sydney nutritionist Brittany Darling to find out all there is to know - from how she takes her nuut, her favourite holiday and the only time she lies.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Surfing at beautiful Noosa in the summer holidays with my kids and dad.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I’m part Mayan Indian.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Holidays and hotels, preferably overseas or skiing - only the two most expensive types of holidays!

What is your current state of mind?

We’ve been living out of the city for the past 12 weeks so pretty chilled! I’ve realised I waste a lot of time and get very stressed running around Sydney.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Temperance!

On what occasion do you lie?

When I’m late to pick the kids up from school.

How do you unwind?

Netflix, yoga and red wine. Not in that order or at the same time!

What is the best part of your job?

I get to chat to people and talk about food all day.

Where and when do you feel most comfortable?

I never feel uncomfortable really. I think I have my parents to thank for that. They raised us to be ultra-confident within ourselves.  I’m definitely most comfortable in yoga pants and a baggy t-shirt with no bra!

How do you take your nuut?

In the morning with ice and almond milk.

If you only have a half hour to work out for a day what would you do?

Pilates. I usually squeeze a 12.30pm BodyLove LIVE class as I sit down a lot lately.

Favourite guilty-pleasure food?

Pizza, anything Mexican, milk chocolate, and pistachio ice cream. Sorry I couldn’t just give you one.

Best style tip?

Spanx. I don’t tend to follow trends.

If you were chased by the paparazzi, what would you like to be wearing?

It depends on why they were chasing me I guess, but probably a terry towelling onesie!

How do you describe your sense of humour?

I’ve been told I have a weird sense of humour and a lot of the time people aren’t sure if I’m being serious or not.

The one thing that always puts a smile on your face…

Catching up with friends. I have great friends and they always have hilarious stories to tell.

What do you most like about your appearance?

I love my stomach. I always have. After having kids it’s a little different but I still think it’s my best asset.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

I love a man that can cook (fortunately my husband cooks Italian really well).

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Honesty and genuineness.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

I had to ask my sister this one. She said I say “so” and “um” a lot.

When and where were you happiest?

I really enjoyed living in London between 2008 - 2010 when I was modelling. I was young and broke but made some great friends and memories. We would go dancing until 4am, do lots of short trips around Europe and there was literally never a dull moment. We would also eat amazing (and cheap) food. I really miss the Indian food in Bricklane and the Borough markets.

Which talent would you most like to have?

To be able to sing or play a musical instrument.

Where would you most like to live?

I’d love to live in a big city again. Maybe New York, Tokyo or somewhere in Italy? Or perhaps even the Swiss Alps.

What is your most treasured possession?

Sadly my phone! I actually don’t really have many things. I tend to keep things pretty minimal, but I can’t live without my mobile.

What is your most marked characteristic?

I’m 5’11 so probably my height.

What do you most value in your friends?

All my friends are very different and very individual. They are very comfortable in their own skins. I value them for this.

What is your greatest regret?

That I always rush and I’m not very often in the moment.

What is your motto?

Everything happens for a reason.
